How to Negotiate Buying A Used Car
With the average cost of a brand new car being around £33,543 in 2015, compared to £18,800 for a used one, buying a used car is definitely the way to go.
I'm a creature of habit and learning to drive a new car felt scary to me, and I knew that once I got a new car I wasn't going to be changing it again anytime soon. Who else feels this way too?! We made the absolutely brilliant decision to go from manual gear to auto, and I can't tell you enough about the difference it has made to my overall driving experience. I used to hate driving anything more than an hour long, but now 3 hours is a breeze! If you're planning on buying a used car, here are some top tips on how to negotiate.
How to Negotiate Buying A Used Car
1) First thing to do is look at a few different websites for used cars to see which model you like and choose the one that meets your needs. Websites like KAP Motor’s extensive collection of used cars are great to browse through
2) Once you've decided on a model, check the price range that it's going for, whilst comparing mileage and year of manufacture. Mileage is especially important, the lower it is, the better
3) When you go to view the car, bring a friend who knows lots about cars or ask a mechanic to help with pre-purchase inspection
4) Think about taking out warranty on the car to give you a piece of mind, plenty of independent companies will offer this or if you're buying from a dealer make sure you enquire with them
5) Ask for the car's history report. Apps like My Car Check can better inform you as to whether the car has ever been in an accident
6) And finally, if you are happy with the car and ready to take the plunge, always try and get a little money off or ask for extras!
I hope these tips help with how to negotiate buying a used car!
