A Chocolate Lover's Dream, Sweet Freedom Choc Shot
Finally, there is a healthy chocolate sauce on the market that is low calorie and all natural. Ingredients are derived from cocoa, sugar extracts from fruits and contains no artificial flavouring, colours or preservatives.
The chocolate shots are only 14 calories per teaspoon, and the original Sweet Freedom which is much like a honey or syrup is 13 calories per teaspoon.
Time to put them to the test and see how good they taste!
For the original Sweet Freedom, I drizzled it over my morning bran topped with walnuts and dried cranberry. I like that it isn't overly sweet and the taste is excellent. Like a concentrated apple syrup without it tasting artifical.
Next up, I decide to make 'nice cream' which I have bookmarked for ages since I read it on Kie's beautiful blog. If you haven't heard of it before, it's just a frozen banana whisked in the blender and tastes so much like ice cream you wouldn't believe it! The orange spice choc shot contains cardomom which I am not a fan of, so this one was not particularly enjoyable for me. However, if you like your spices like cardomom and cloves (think of chai latte), this won't be an issue.
And for this super cute piggy in a tub birthday cake I made for one of my best buddies, the 'mud' is a drizzle of the chocolate sauce. Not only was it so easy to use instead of having to make chocolate ganache from scratch, the taste is terrific too. It really does taste like pure chocolate sauce without that artificial and super sugary aftertaste. I'll definitely be repurchasing this again once I've finished my current bottle.
As for the coconut chocolate, I had it in the form of a cuppa hot chocolate. It was devine. I don't drink hot chocolate often but when I do, I can always taste the grainy chocolate powder. With the choc shot, it tasted so silky smooth and luxurious, and is probably the best hot chocolate I've ever tasted. It was chocolatey but not too sweet at all. Thumbs up!
These amazing sauces are available from all the big supermarkets like Sainsbury's and Tesco's. Holland + Barrett, Morrisons, Waitrose and Co-op also stock them.
Have you tried Sweet Freedom Choc Shots yet?
