Hong Kong Style Honey & Soya Chicken Wings
This is Hong Kong's most popular way of making wings and it's so simple. If you've ever been to a BBQ in Hong Kong or southern parts of China, I can bet you will have eaten them before.
All you need are two ingredients and some wings. At a HK style BBQ, you first brush the wings with lots of soya sauce, grill for a bit, brush more soya sauce on and then start layering the honey on, until cooked. When the soya and honey mingle together, the wings become caramelised, sticky, and savoury.
At home, you can re-create this easily buy mixing equal parts of soya to honey, pour over the wings, and roast in an oven.
Ingredients:
10 chicken wings
5 tbsp light soya sauce
5 tbsp honey
Directions:
1. Combine soya sauce and honey together and stir well
2. Pour over chicken wings and rub well. Let wings marinade like this for around 10-15 minutes
3. Set the oven to the highest setting, transfer wings to a roasting tray and cover with foil. Roast for 20 mins, then uncover foil, turn the chicken over and roast for a further 10 mins or until cooked through
*Covering with foil initially stops the honey burning from the high heat
