Homeware Update On A Budget

New Year is the perfect time to think about home updates and this year, we will be decorating the nursery for Isaac and finishing up on the garden. We've just had a brand new bathroom fitted and I'm still shopping for a few bits to complete the look. I can't wait to show you guys when it's ready.

I'm a firm believer in the aesthetics of a home to create the right atmosphere, and pretty homeware just makes a home so much more inviting. Garden, nursery and bathroom items are on my shopping list, so after the Christmas break, I headed straight out to Lakeside retail park.

There's a huge HomeSense* store at Lakeside which I'd never been to before but had driven past on countless trips to Ikea, and I'd been meaning to check it out for the longest time. As soon as I stepped foot in the store, I was head over heels. This shop was made for me!

There was so much to feast my eyes on from beautiful one off pieces of rustic furniture, to kitchenware, to baby stuff. Everything is at knock off prices, and will easily suit even the tightest of budgets. Being a real bargain hunter, I was secretly squealing with excitement at the prices as I've seen similar items in many other shops for so much more.

After a good hour and a half of browsing, I finally took these home with me.

I am so pleased with the 3 large storage baskets. They will be great for storing all of Isaac's toys once his nursery is done. I've actually kept the cute triangle printed one in the living room, since it looks adult enough and provides more than ample space for clearing the living room of baby stuff in a matter of seconds.

Both the large baskets were £12.99 and the small one for £5.99. Nice looking toy storage baskets do not come cheap, and these were a bargain even at full price.

I am in love with these cute peach/pink striped plates and gold serving plate. I plan to use these for al fresco dining in the garden once summer arrives. The plate make great cake/dessert plates too, there's 4 in a set for £12.99. The gold serving plate is £9.99 and perfect for sharing fruits/cheese/cold meats on.

Owning a whole set of copper cookware would be a dream, but it would cost me an arm and a leg, unless you end up at HomeSense. This medium sized pan was only £16.99! A couple of new towels to update the kitchen with too.

This book was in the sale from £12.99 down to £3 and I couldn't not pick it up. I love buying books for Isaac and I hope he'll love to read as much as I do.

I know Christmas is over, but it's also the best time to grab a bargain for next year haha. Gingerbread house bag with chocolates inside for £2, and some fabulous gift tags for £1 a pack.

I will be coming back to HomeSense from now on to buy all sorts and it really is the perfect place to buy presents too. Take a look at just how immense the Lakeside store is...
