Farewell 2015

2015 has been an incredible year.

The past 365 days have just flown by and we've ended the year on a high with a great holiday in Taiwan and Hong Kong. G and I have been away for most of December, hence all the quietness on the blog this month.

I don't share too many personal stories on my blog but 2015 was a real turning point for me. Earlier this year in March, I made the decision to quit a full time job I'd been in for 8 years. I'd been unhappy in the last few months leading up to the job due to structural changes as well as a few bad characters at work, and I'd just had enough.

With the support of G, I handed in my notice; I'll never forget the euphoric feeling I felt on my first day as a free woman! A 7 month break ensued and during that time, I really took time out to think about what I really wanted out of life. I had a lot of projects on my mind but even though I was no longer working anymore, I couldn't fit it all in. Blogging has always given me so much joy and quite naturally, blogging ended up consuming most of my time. I soaked in as much as I could to do with blogging and the more I got into it, the more opportunities it brought with it.

I've met some wonderful people through blogging, and whilst I know it sounds cliche, I honestly would not have met them had it not been for blogging. Some of my blog highlights include meeting the Sortedfood guys who are just an awesome bunch and taking Ben for a tour of Chinatown + Japan Centre in the name of recipe research, winning a brand new Nikon DSLR for my post on A Beginner's Guide to Using A DSLR (me out of all people!), meeting the lovely lot at School of Wok and becoming one of their freelancers, starting up my YouTube channel, learning how to Style Food Photos, working as a contributor for Lyfe Foodie and generally invites for blogging events which make me feel like I am a part of a secret society!

Finishing the final decors in our first home has been a major relief too. We enjoy our living space so much and have had plenty of fun hosting dinner parties for friends and family. 2015 was also finally the year I got healthy and shifted some post wedding weight (from 2012....!), took my parents on holiday; something I'd wanted to do for a very long time, ticked off Taiwan from my bucket list with a very full belly and enjoyed not only 1, but 2 trips to Hong Kong.

I'm now back working full time in a new job that I'm enjoying and I have lots planned for 2016! Thank you to all of you who have stopped by Lucy Loves To Eat to show your support, it means so much to me. Happy New Year and see you guys in 2016.

Here are some of my favourite shots from 2015.

Hanging out in the garden when I first quit my job.

Setting up this dessert bar/food station for a dear friend.

Macaron orders for a baby shower.

Finishing on the final decors of our new family home.

Our first housewarming party and my birthday rolled into one, kicking off with homemade desserts and birthday cake.

Bestie's hen party in Dorset. What a blast!

A wonderful summer in Hong Kong starting with this private clubhouse for daily swims.

Cake making for special people in my life.

This photo with my niece. She brings so much joy to my life in ways that words can't describe. I love her to the moon and back.

Taking my parents to Brussels.

Finally finding the suitcase of my dreams, a yellow one and also from Muji where all my lovely cases are from.

Here's to 2016.
