Bathroom Decor - Before & After

After this post on my kitchen redecoration earlier this year, it's about time I share my bathroom before and afters.

It's coming up to 1 year since we bought our house, and aside from the downstairs shower room/toilet and the garden, the major renovations are more or less completed.

Our main bathroom is pretty much my dream bathroom and the best thing about it is, we didn't need to change much of it. It had the perfect stand alone bathtub, and a matching sink and toilet. However, I couldn't stand floor tiles. They were black and 'dirty' looking mosaic tiles and it made the whole space feel quite cold and unwelcoming. The black wall trim and black shade only re-inforced that vibe too.

Before:

After:

We changed the floor tiles, the sink to a larger one (keeping the same style and pedestal), the sink tap, painted the black trim white with tile paint and installed shutters which we also have throughout the house. Everything else remained the same.

I'm especially happy with the new floor tiles, a stone coloured tile made to look like real wood. The wood grain is printed on and no grooves means it's easy to clean.

Our bathroom is now super white and bright, and has become a place of real relaxation. I was never much of a bath person, but now I'll find any excuse for a bath.

Do you like a white and bright bathroom or is this white too much for you?

  1. Gorgeous, I really love your bathroom Lucy especially the floor! I wish I've seen your bathroom before we started doing ours a while back. We have tiles and they are a nightmare to clean, everything looks dirty all the time like you said!

    1. Awww thank you Hanh! G was really unsure about the tiles in the shop, but I'm glad I insisted, and we both love it now. If you have a large bathroom, you could look at getting a steam cleaner, they clean really well x

  2. Lucy, one word YES!

The white is classic, yet the bath, basin and loo features inject enough personality to take the room from clinical to tranquil. Absolutely love it. You actually haven't changed much but the what you have changed has taken the room miles away from the dark space it was and that is very clever and creative. Loving the metro tiles as I don't think these can ever fail but the old fashioned towel rail is the my favourite.

Might just have to get me a roll top bath to match because I absolutely adore yours.
    LOVE LOVE LOVE IT

    1. Haha, thanks so much Molly and I'm so glad you love it too! The black made the room feel dinky and I love how the white just makes the bathroom seem so much bigger.
